About Us

At Santhavanam we help to fund the amazing

Because we are independent of the Trust, we are able to support innovative projects that wouldn’t normally be funded through the NHS.

Santhwanam or Consolation is something everyone yearns for during tragic times. In the summer of 2018, the entire state of Kerala and its inhabitants was struck by a tragedy of epic proportions. Neither Man nor women, infants or the elderly, upper, lower or middle class, No family was spared from the impact of the deluge that ranged from Kasargod to Thiruvananthapuram. People took refuge on roofs, praying to be airlifted to safety, or rescued by heroic fishermen in their boats. Many barely escaped with their lives only to have lost literally everything save the clothes on their backs. During this crisis many a folks and non-profit organization across the world stepped in the assist in any way possible, by organizing fund raisers, donating in kind , relief supplies and also monetary support.

The Austin community was no different and did their fair share of coordinating rescue and relief efforts from here remotely as much as possible. Once the waters receeded, and the general public went back to their regular routines, A member of the Austin community never lost focus and stepped up even further by going above and beyond to help the people of their village in Kerala. After consulting with all members of the family, The family decided to donate their ancestral land for a noble cause wherein they decided to build some homes on this property and donate it to those who had lost everything in the deluge. And so Santhwanam was born.

Santhwanam is a 501-c-3 non-profit organization that was created to help coordinate the relief effort to identify the families in the most need, build them a house and help them transition in to their new home. We are a US based organization that will closely work other registered organizations in Kerala in order to achieve this goal. Mission 1 : A Roof Over The Head

One of our founding member donated 20 cents of his land where we are building low cost homes for the few families who lost their only shelter during the recent flood in Kerala. With the adequate measures and help from the governmental mechanism we did our screening to identify the families who immediately need a place for them to call home .We worked with few local organizations back in the area and came up with a plan and each unit will cost less than 6 Lakhs. Now looking for sponsors and good Samaritans to help us achieve this goal .
